Two men were arrested last week in connection to a shooting that injured five people near Bourbon Street and Orleans Avenue.

The shooting was reported shortly before 3 a.m. on Aug. 1, according to New Orleans Police.

Through an investigation, which included surveillance video captured by the Real Time Crime Center, New Orleans Police identified and arrested 22-year-old Markez Jefferson (pictured above, right) and 20-year-old Nathan Saavedra (pictured left) on suspicion of aggravated battery Aug 3.

Jefferson was positively identified as the shooter in this incident, according to New Orleans Police.

Both Jefferson and Saavedra were booked into the St. Bernard Parish Jail before they were transferred Aug. 3 to Orleans Parish, according to New Orleans Police.

Jefferson was booked on five counts of attempted second-degree murder, while Saavedra was booked on one county of obstruction of justice.

A third person, Kareem Carter, is sought in the investigation and wanted on charges of illegal carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon and obstruction of justice, according to New Orleans Police.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Carter, police added.

“I want to commend the officers who worked diligently to make an arrest related to the shooting that wounded five people in the Eighth District,” NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson said. “This thoughtless act could have been a much larger tragedy had anyone been killed by the reckless actions of the accused individuals.”

Two people are wanted by New Orleans Police for questioning in connection to a July 3 simple robbery on Dauphine Street.

Through an investigation, officers learned the incident occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m. when the first person (bottom of the picture) was with the victim in the 400 block of Dauphine Street and the second person (top of the picture) approached them a short time later, according to New Orleans Police.

The incident was initially reported on Bourbon Street, although New Orleans Police updated the location on July 29.

An argument occurred and the male victim was thrown to the ground before his wallet, cellphone and Apple Watch were stolen, according to New Orleans Police.

The two people pictured above fled down Dauphine Street towards Conti Street. They are only needed for questioning at this time, police said.

Person wanted for questioning in Bourbon Street simple robbery investigation

New Orleans Police have released surveillance footage of a person of interest wanted in connection to a deadly stabbing incident on Canal Street July 27.

The stabbing occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Canal Street, according to New Orleans Police. A male victim died in the incident, police added.

Police believe that the person pictured above may have information pertinent to the investigation.

The person was described as dressed in all black clothing, a stocking cap, wearing brown shoes and seen possessing a distinguishable dark-colored draw-string bag with a white/silver stipe across its back, according to New Orleans Police.
