The identity of suspect is sought in a deadly stabbing that occurred near the intersection of Canal and Carondelet streets Tuesday morning following an altercation between two men, according to New Orleans Police.
Eighth District police officers responded to an initial report of an aggravated battery by cutting near the intersection shortly before 1:30 a.m. and upon arrival, located an adult male victim who sustained multiple stab wounds, according to New Orleans Police.
The victim, who wasn’t identified, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Through an investigation, Eighth District officers learned that the victim and the suspect, identified only as an adult Black male, were involved in a physical altercation just before the stabbing, according to New Orleans Police.
The suspect fled the scene after the incident.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and release an official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family, according to New Orleans Police.
