A man was arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of a concealed revolver with destroyed serial numbers Feb. 3 after detectives watched him smoking marijuana on Bourbon Street, according to New Orleans Police.
Eighth District Task Force A detectives were patrolling the 500 block of Bourbon Street shortly after 11 p.m. on Feb. 3 when they observed Darryl Love, 21, allegedly smoking marijuana, according to New Orleans Police.
When detectives stopped and searched Love, they allegedly found a concealed Rossi .38 revolver with destroyed serial numbers, New Orleans Police said.
Love was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for illegal carrying of a concealed weapon and possession of firearms with obliterated numbers.
Love’s bond was set at $5,000 on Feb. 4, court records show. He is scheduled to reappear on April 3 at 10 a.m. for a rule to show cause hearing in New Orleans Magistrate Court section M5.

Two suspects are wanted in a New Orleans Police investigation into an alleged aggravated battery by cutting incident that occurred on Feb. 2 in the 1000 block of Ursulines Avenue.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 7 a.m when the suspects allegedly struck the victim with a knife, according to New Orleans Police.
The two suspects then fled the scene eastbound on Rampart Street toward Esplanade Avenue and then to an unknown location, New Orleans Police said.
New Orleans Police on Feb. 5 released surveillance camera footage of the alleged suspects and their getaway vehicle, which bears a license plate number of 2R0X35 from an unknown state.

New Orleans Police officers are searching for an alleged suspect wanted in connection to an auto burglary that occurred Jan. 8 in the 500 block of Governor Nicholls Street.
The incident occurred at about 4:36 p.m. when the suspect reportedly shattered the victim’s front passenger side window and took an Amazon tablet from the interior portion of the vehicle, according to New Orleans Police.
The suspect then fled on foot to an unknown location, New Orleans Police said.

New Orleans Eighth District Police officers responded to the call at 7:26 a.m. when they encountered the man armed with a gun, Ferguson said.
There was an exchange of gun fire between the police and the man, who was “struck multiple times,” New Orleans Police said.
Ferguson said four officers responded and three fired their service weapons at the man, who was struck in the chest.
The man was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the chest, Ferguson said.
No officers were injured in the incident, he said.
New Orleans Police’s Force Investigation Team, which investigates police use of force is investigating the incident, Ferguson said, adding that the crime scene stretches from the 400 to 500 blocks of St. Louis Street.
The four officers who responded were re-assigned as part of the New Orleans Police Department’s standard protocol pending the investigation, Ferguson said.
The New Orleans Independent Police Monitor was on scene following the shooting and federal monitoring agencies were also notified, including the FBI, Ferguson added.
“[It’s an] unfortunate incident whenever our officers have to resort to using their weapons during their course of duties,” Ferguson said. “We are praying for the family of this individual as well as our officers.”
It wasn’t immediately clear in front of which bar the gun fight occurred, Ferguson said, but added that it happened outside.
A man is wanted in connection to an alleged Jan. 10 simple robbery on St. Ann Street in which he engaged in conversation with the victim then demanded his property, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
New Orleans Police said the incident occurred at about 6:17 a.m when the victim was walking in the 800 block of St. Ann Street.
The suspect approached from behind and engaged in a brief conversation before demanding the victim’s property, according to New Orleans Police.
A physical altercation ensued between the two and resulted in the suspect taking possession of the victim’s property, according to the NOPD.
The victim attempted to chase the suspect on foot down St. Ann Street towards North Rampart Street but was unsuccessful, the NOPD said.
Police described the suspect as a medium build black male wearing a white shirt and jeans.
