NOPD: Armed robbery suspected demanded money, kiss from French Quarter cashier

A person suspected of robbing a French Quarter business at knife point on August 15 in the 1000 block of Royal St. demanded a kiss from the cashier, according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

The NOPD said the incident occurred at about 3:05 a.m. when the suspect approached the victim with a knife in hand and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect took cash and then demanded a kiss, according to the NOPD. The suspect then fled the scene with an unspecified amount of cash. It’s not clear if the victim complied with the suspect’s demand for a smooch.

Police released a surveillance camera photo of the alleged suspect, which is pictured above.

Police search for three men suspected in a purse-snatching incident on Royal Street

Three men are sought by the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) for their alleged involvement in an attempted purse-snatching incident in the 700 block of Royal St. on August 11.

According to the NOPD, the alleged incident occurred at about 1 a.m. in the 700 block of Royal St. when the victim crossed paths with three unknown black males. One suspect asked the victim for a cigarette, according to the NOPD, then grabbed her purse.

The victim immediately grabbed her purse with both hands and tried to prevent it from being taken, according to the NOPD, at which point a struggle ensued. The victim fell to the ground and the man allegedly dragged the victim to the 600 block of St. Peter St., according to the NOPD.

The victim eventually let go of her purse and the suspect ran off, but dropped the purse along the way, according to the NOPD. A witness returned the purse to the victim, according to NOPD, and was transported to an area hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.

NOPD: Man reported missing last seen on Esplanade Avenue

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is requesting help from the public locating a person who has been missing for nearly a week.

According to the NOPD, 59-year-old Shave Gallivan was last seen in front of a hotel in the 600 block of Esplanade Ave. at about 6:21 p.m. on August 7. Gallivan was reportedly arguing with his girlfriend in front of the hotel, the NOPD stated, and hasn’t been seen or heard from since then.

The NOPD described Gallivan as a white male standing six foot one inch tall with grey hair and weighing about 140 pounds.

NOPD: Man accused of illegally carrying handgun on Bourbon Street

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) said it arrested a man for allegedly carrying an illegal concealed handgun on Bourbon Street on August 11.

According to the NOPD, city police officers and Louisiana state troopers were patrolling the 500 block of Bourbon Street at about 12:27 a.m. when they stopped 27-year-old Devante Ray, who was carrying a concealed Glock Model 22 .40-caliber handgun. The firearm was loaded with 15 bullets, according to the NOPD.

Ray was taken to NOPD’s Eighth District police station on Royal Street and transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center where he was booked with one count of illegal carrying of a firearm.

Police search for missing woman last seen on Bourbon Street

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is requesting information on the whereabouts of 31-year-old Meghan McFadden, who was reported missing on Sunday.

According to the NOPD, McFadden was last seen at about 4 p.m. on August 10 in the 500 block of Bourbon Street.

The NOPD described McFadden as five foot two inches tall, approximately 140 pounds with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a red dress with flowers on it.
