NOPD searches for burglary suspects in separate French Quarter incidents

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is searching for suspects who allegedly burglarized several hotels and a vehicle stemming from two separate cases that occurred in the French Quarter in late July and early August.

In the first case, according to the NOPD, a man allegedly burglarized three hotels from July 20 to August 2, two of which are located in the French Quarter or along its edge.

UPDATE: Police arrested Tramaine Williams, 33, on August 3 in connection with the alleged hotel burglaries. Williams was located by NOPD officers at a local hotel in possession with several of the stolen items, including several reportedly stolen tablet computers and smartphones, police said. Williams was booked into Orleans Parish Justice Center on suspicion of four counts of unauthorized entry of a business, four counts of illegal possession of stolen things and on drug possession charges.

The first occurred on July 20 in the 900 block of Canal Street at approximately 4:59 a.m. and the second occurred in the 1300 block of Canal Street at approximately 10:03 p.m. on August 1. Then on August 2, a business located in the 100 block of Iberville Street was allegedly burglarized at approximately 2:24 a.m.

In all three incidents, according to the NOPD, the man entered through the hotel lobbies and forced his way into the office areas, where he took iPads, cell phones, and other items.

Then on August 1, according to the NOPD, two suspects were captured on surveillance camera footage allegedly burglarizing a vehicle in the 900 block St. Louis Street at approximately 5:33 a.m.

According to the NOPD, the vehicle’s passenger side window was smashed.

NOPD described the two suspects as black males, one being approximately six foot, one inches tall, bald with a thin build, and was seen wearing a white shirt with horizontal stripes and dark colored pants.

The NOPD described the second suspect as five foot 10 inches tall wearing a tan bucket hat, white t-shirt, tan shorts, and a red drawstring backpack.

Woman reportedly upset with food order points handgun at cook, fires shot into wall inside Bourbon Street restaurant, NOPD says

The NOPD says a woman is wanted after punching a cook, then firing a gun inside a Bourbon Street restaurant after becoming upset with her food order on July 28.

A woman reportedly upset by the quality of her food fired a handgun inside a Bourbon Street restaurant on July 28, according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

After becoming irate, according to the NOPD, the unknown black female punched a cook several times inside a restaurant in the 400 block of Bourbon Street, according to the NOPD. The incident occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m.

The cook stopped the fight and escorted the female out of the restaurant. The woman returned to the restaurant and pulled a handgun out of her purse, according to the NOPD, pointing it at the cook while demanding a refund.

After the woman was told to leave, according to the NOPD, she allegedly fired a shot into the back wall of the restaurant and disappeared into the crowd on Bourbon Street.

Police released a surveillance camera still to the public on July 30, which is shown above.

Several more alleged crimes were reported in the French Quarter between July 19 and July 27, according to local news media and the NOPD.

On July 19, the NOPD reported an alleged simple robbery that occurred at approximately 4:07 a.m. in the 900 block of St. Ann Street.

Then on July 26, the NOPD reported an alleged shoplifting incident in the 400 block of North Peters Street. A picture of the suspect (shown above) was released by the NOPD on July 30.

On morning of July 27, according to nola.com, a 43-year-old man was stabbed by an unknown man following an argument near the intersection of St. Peter and Decatur streets by Jackson Square.

The verbal altercation happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. then a man pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times, nola.com reported. According to the newspaper, the man was taken to the hospital. The extent of his injuries weren’t immediately known.

NOPD searches for man suspected of stealing Crown Royal liquor from North Rampart store

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is searching for a man who is suspected of stealing a liter bottle of Crown Royal whiskey from a store on the edge of the French Quarter on July 14.

According to the NOPD, the incident occurred at approximately 4:05 p.m. in the 300 block of North Rampart Street.

The NOPD described the suspect as a white male. Video surveillance footage released by the NOPD is shown above.

Alleged purse snatcher on Orleans Street sought by NOPD

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is searching for an unidentified man who it says snatched a purse from a woman in the French Quarter on July 18.

According to the NOPD, the man walked up to a woman sitting on the front steps of her residence in the 800 block of Orleans Street and took the purse sitting on the woman’s lap. The incident occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m., according to the NOPD.

The NOPD described the suspect as a black male approximately six foot, two inches, and wearing a black shirt.

NOPD searches for two suspects in alleged robbery on Royal Street

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is searching for two male suspects who are wanted for an alleged simple robbery in a bathroom in the 200 block of Royal Street on July 15.

According to the NOPD, the incident occurred at approximately 8:13 p.m. when two suspects followed the victim into the bathroom. One suspect put the victim in a choke hold from behind, according to the NOPD, while the other suspect took the wallet from the victim’s pocket. Both suspects immediately fled the scene.
