New Orleans Police on Friday said detectives are investigating the theft of a $17,000 Rolex watch stashed inside of backpack on Canal Street last month.
The incident occurred at about 5:50 p.m. on Sept. 6 in the 500 block of Canal Street, according to the NOPD.
Police said the male victim placed his black backpack inside of a storage room at the location at approximately 5 p.m. on Sept. 5.
Surveillance video reviewed during the investigation showed an unidentified White male entering the storage room at about 12 a.m. on Sept. 6 and taking the backpack, according to the NOPD.
In addition to the Rolex watch, police said the backpack contained about $1,900 in cash and a pair of Apple Air pods.
