Below are person and property crimes reported during New Orleans Police’s Eighth District station weekly MAX meeting on Sept. 1. The incidents range from Aug. 22 to Aug. 29 in the French Quarter.
Saturday, Aug. 22:
At 8 a.m., New Orleans Police received a report of an auto theft at 87 French Market Place. The keys were dropped and picked up by someone, who stole the vehicle, according to Eighth District Detective Marshall Scallan, adding that the detective working on the incident is attempting to obtain video footage of the alleged theft. The incident was reported on Aug. 23.
Tuesday, Aug. 25:
At 5 a.m., New Orleans Police received a report of a simple robbery near Baronne and Canal streets.
At 6:20 p.m., New Orleans Police received a report of a stolen vehicle in the 500 block of Canal Street, although it is being investigated as a possible insurance fraud cause, according to Scallan.
Thursday, Aug. 27:
At 6 p.m., New Orleans Police received a report of a simple business burglary in the 600 block of Decatur Street.
Saturday, Aug. 29:
At 3 p.m., New Orleans Police received a report of an auto burglary at 721 St. Philip St. Two vehicles were burglarized, according to Scallan.
