WWOZ is moving out of its French Market location

WWOZ is moving out of its location near the French Market, the radio station announced on Saturday.

The community radio station will hold its last membership drive after 18 years of broadcasting from hits current headquarters in the 1000 block of North Peters Street location.

WWOZ cited renovations to the building due to damage from Hurricane Ida in 2021 as the reason for the move. A new location has not yet been announced.

“We are very grateful to the French Market and the city of New Orleans for providing WWOZ our home for the last 18 years and for their help during the transition,” WWOZ said. “Stay tuned for updates on our new home! We are still working out the final details and will have an exciting special announcement about that soon. Until then, please support the station in our final membership drive here. We’d love to leave on a high note, breaking all previous membership drive records! And, of course, your donations will help us during this vitally important time for our beloved WWOZ! Thank you! Support WWOZ!”

The fall membership drive runs from Sept. 21-29. For more information, visit wwoz.org.

Hurricane Ida makes landfall in the French Quarter

Hurricane Ida has made landfall in the French Quarter. I produced a short video with some of the footage I filmed from the balcony of my Toulouse Street home. Thankfully, there was no major damage, although the storm gave us a pretty good scare.

Word of the day…

I have a bad gut feeling about this storm.
Given the “looks intentional” cluster fuck still unfolding in Afghanistan, I sure the hell hope we don’t need any Federal help after the storm. I don’t think anyone in Washington DC have any American’s best interest at heart. I mean, they wouldn’t leave us stranded, would they?

“But why would they intentionally not come to New Orleans’ aid after the storm?”

DISTRACTION. This storm is a stroke of luck for anyone in power who wanted to distract from one cluster fuck to another. This time they can blame climate change for a disaster instead of being blamed for it. It would be a welcomed change to the headlines and trending topics. Americans stuck on roofs plays better than Americans stuck in Kabul.

Mayor Latoya Cantrell announced on Friday that there was no time for evacuations and we need to shelter in place.

I know that no matter what happens or how this turns out, Joe Biden won’t let us down.
