A New Orleans man was arrested Tuesday in connection to an armed robbery that occurred in the French Quarter last week.

The incident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. Feb. 5 in the 700 block of St. Philip Street, according to New Orleans Police.

Through investigation, Eighth District detectives developed 48-year-old Shawn Brooks as a person of interest and was later arrested.

Brooks was booked into Orleans Parish Justice Center on suspicion of first-degree robbery, access device fraud, illegal possession of stolen things and motor vehicle theft. His bail was set at $9,000.

Two Lake Charles men are wanted in an investigation into to a shooting that injured a 30-year-old man on Magazine Street Dec. 20, according to New Orleans Police.

New Orleans Police have obtained arrest warrants for 22-year-old Gevante Banks and 19-year-oild Harvy Jefferson, who are both wanted on suspicion of aggravated second-degree battery and illegal discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence.

The shooting occurred shortly after 4 a.m., in the 100 block of Magazine Street, where a man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, according to New Orleans Police.

Through an investigation, New Orleans Police detectives identified as the alleged perpetrators in the shooting.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglarizing a Michael Kors store on Canal Street before stealing some of its merchandise Saturday, according to New Orleans Police.

The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Canal Street, at the Canal Place mall, when the suspect, identified as Demarques Mitchell, pulled open the doors to the store and went inside, according to Sgt. Jamie Roach, who investigates property crimes for NOPD’s 8th District.

Mitchell allegedly fled the scene with several store items, including a Michael Kors backpack and charm.

Items also included “several purses,” according to Roach, adding that officers reviewed the footage, identified Mitchell, who was located and arrested the next day.

Woman sought in simple robbery near Burgundy and Iberville streets; NOPD investigates 2 attempted robberies

A woman is sought in connection to a simple robbery near the intersection of Burgundy and Iberville street last week, which also included two attempted robbery incidents in the French Quarter last week, according to New Orleans Police.

The simple robbery occurred shortly 2 a.m. on Jan. 17, when the victim got into a vehicle with a male and a female individual, who took the victim’s purse, according to an NOPD 8th District Sgt. Carroll,

Carroll added that detectives are searching for 32-year-old Reeva Scott, who allegedly knows the victim and was in the car at the time of the robbery.

The first attempted robbery occurred Wednesday, Jan. 20, shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Canal Street when a tan SUV with three individuals pulled up to a couple and pointed a handgun at them, demanding they drop their bags, according to NOPD 8th District police.

The couple refused to drop their bags and across Canal Street, away from the SUV.

The second attempted robbery occurred Saturday, shortly after 4 p.m. in the 1000 block of St. Peter Street when the suspect stopped the victim on the sidewalk and blocked their path, according to the NOPD.

The suspect, who was not identified, demanded money from the victim, who fled the scene.

Detectives have obtained surveillance video, which they are using to identify the suspect, according to the NOPD.
