The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) on September 9 arrested man on Bourbon Street after he was caught with a loaded handgun and marijuana in the 500 block of Bourbon St.
According to the NOPD, Dominick Raymond, 29, was approached by NOPD Eighth District Task Force detectives at about 12:04 am. and arrested after he was allegedly found with marijuana and a loaded handgun with an extended magazine. Raymond also allegedly possessed cocaine and ecstasy.
Raymond was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on suspicion of illegal carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal possession of marijuana, illegal possession of the aforementioned drugs.

A man who was illegally carrying a loaded handgun and a blunt was arrested in the 400 block of Bourbon St. on September 9, according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).
Demarkius Williams, 27, was apparently celebrating his birthday with a loaded Smith and Wesson .40-caliber handgun and marijuana in the French Quarter when he was arrested by NOPD Eighth District Task Force officers in the 400 block of Bourbon St. at approximately 10:51 p.m.
In addition to the handgun and the weed, the NOPD said it found a magazine filled with 14 rounds of live ammunition.
Williams was transported to the Eighth District station then booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center where he is accused of allegedly carrying a concealed firearm and illegal possession of marijuana.
The New Orleans District Attorney indicted Alexander Kirby, 33, for the May 15 fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend, who was a waitress at the Clover Grill on Bourbon Street.
Kirby is charged with second the second-degree murder of 33-year-old Shay de St. Germain, attempted second-degree murder of her new boyfriend, two counts of second-degree kidnapping, and one count of illegally carrying a concealed weapon. An Orleans Parish grand jury handed down the five-count indictment on August 29.
Assistant District Attorney Inga Petrovich presented the case to the grand jury.
If convicted, Kirby faces a mandatory term of life in prison. The attempted murder charge is punishable by 10 to 50 years, while each kidnapping charge carries a penalty of five to 40 years in prison.
The weapons charge is the only misdemeanor and comes with a six month jail sentence if convicted.
After the indictment was read, criminal District Judge Benedict Willard increased Kirby’s $600,000 bond to $1.26 million.
According to the district attorney’s (DA) office, surveillance video recordings backed up witness accounts that Kirby confronted the victim and her new boyfriend with a gun in the back of the Glover Grill located at 900 Bourbon St. shortly after midnight.
Kirby pointed the the gun at the other man, according to the DA, but de St. Germain stepped between them and a struggle ensued. The girl was shot once in the face at approximately 12:19 a.m. and pronounced dead shortly after being transported to University Medical Center’s emergency trauma center, according to the DA.
Louisiana State Troopers later found find Kirby with bloody hands and pointing the gun at his own head, threatening suicide, according to the DA. Kirby complied when ordered to drop the weapon and was arrested at the scene.
The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is seeking a suspect involved in an alleged August 20 theft on Bourbon Street.
According to the NOPD, an unknown black male was seen entering a location in the 300 block of Bourbon St. at about 11:56 a.m., walking behind a desk, and took a victim’s black bag containing personal items.
The suspect fled the location in an unknown direction, according to the NOPD.

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is searching for male suspect who is wanted for an alleged August 16 purse theft on Bourbon Street.
According to the the NOPD, the incident occurred on Friday evening in the 200 block of Bourbon St. when an unknown black male was seen allegedly stealing a female victim’s purse. The purse contained property valued more than $1,000, according to the NOPD.
