Female victim shot in the abdomen on North Rampart Street, NOPD says

A female victim was shot in the abdomen on North Rampart Street in May, according to the New Orleans Police Department, which released surveillance video footage on Friday in the hopes someone can help identify the alleged male suspect.

The incident occurred at about 2:29 a.m. on May 27 in the 900 block of North Rampart Street following a verbal altercation between the victim and the suspect as they passed each other on the street, NOPD officials said after conducting an investigation, which is ongoing.

Police said the altercation allegedly became heated and that’s when the male suspect pulled a handgun out of his bag before shooting the female victim. Officials immediately didn’t provide details on the female victim’s condition.

After the shooting, the suspect removed a jacket from his bag and donned it while fleeing the scene, according to the NOPD.

Suspect used gun to rob victims of $120 on Bienville Street, police say

A male suspect used a gun to commit an armed robbery on Bienville Street last week, taking $120 from his victims before removing a blue face covering and exposing his face to nearby surveillance cameras as he walked away from the scene, according to New Orleans Police on Friday.

Police said incident occurred at about 8:15 p.m. on July 6 in the 800 block of Bienville Street, where the unidentified male suspect robbed his victims then removed the blue face mask he was wearing, while clutching the right side of his waistband while walking into the 700 block of Bienville Street.

The suspect was described as a caucasian or hispanic male in his 20s, thinly built with curly or shaggy hair and dark-colored facial hair; wearing a dark-colored t-shirt with a large while circular logo on the front, baggy denim jeans and white-colored Adidas style tennis shoes, according to the NOPD, which added that he was armed with a black pistol that was concealed in his right front waistband.

Police have issued a be-on-the-lookout alert, asking anyone with information on the whereabouts or identity of the alleged suspect, or who comes into contact with him, to contact Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080 or call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.

NOPD arrests man accused of attacking St. Louis Market employee

New Orleans Police on Monday said they’ve arrested a 22-year-old man accused of attacking an employee at the St. Louis Market in the French Quarter.

Brandon Mitchell was arrested on Monday and booked into the Orleans Justice Center on suspicion of one count of battery, according to the NOPD. Officials said the incident occurred on May 20 in the 700 block of St. Louis Street, where Mitchell entered the business and attacked the male employee from behind before dragging the employee outside and continued to hit the victim with his fist.

4 sought in Bienville Street parking garage burglaries, NOPD says

New Orleans Police are seeking the identities of four males who burglarized several vehicles while armed with firearms in a Bienville Street parking garage last week, according to officials.

Eighth District police said the incident occurred at about 4:40 a.m. on May 16 in the 600 block of Bienville Street, where video surveillance showed four males armed with handguns and rifles enter a parking garage before breaking into several vehicles.

The suspects were in a stolen gray Nissan Altima with Texas license number HSN0410, which was reported stolen from the 1,000 block of South Peters Street and later recovered at an unlisted location in the Second District, according to the NOPD.

Pair sought in suspected pickpocket incident near Bourbon, Iberville streets

New Orleans Police are searching for a male and female couple they say took a male victim’s cellphone and wallet in a pickpocket incident near the intersection of Bourbon and Iberville streets on May 2.

The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. near the intersection, where the male victim was standing and was approached by an unknown Black female, who was observed on surveillance camera footage rubbing on him and then going through his pockets, according to the NOPD.

Police said the female stole the victim’s cell phone and wallet, which she placed “into the rear of her pants.” Shortly afterward, a Black male suspect was observed reaching into the rear of the Black female’s pants and taking the stolen property before walking away, according to the NOPD.
