Two people sustained cutting injuries near Jackson Square after a Sunday morning altercation with a man armed with a machete, according to New Orleans Police.
NOPD officials said the incident was reported at about 5:57 a.m. near the intersection of Saint Ann and Chartres streets.
A physical altercation ensued between the Hispanic male suspect, who produced a machete and cut one of the victims, described a 24-year-old female, on the hand, according to the NOPD.
Police said the second victim, a 27-year-old male, intervened during the altercation and was slashed on the face and hand.
The suspect, who was not identified, fled the scene, according to the NOPD.
