UPDATED New Orleans Police investigate shooting death near Baronne and Common streets

New Orleans Police are investigating the shooting death of a man that occurred near the intersection of Baronne and Common streets Saturday.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. when Eighth District officers patrolling the area reported hearing gunshots near the intersection, according to New Orleans Police.

Updated, 9/1/20, 3:03 a.m.: New Orleans Police released a surveillance photo of a vehicle of interest sought by Homicide Unit detectives as part of an ongoing investigation into a shooting death that occurred in the 200 block of Baronne Street Aug. 22.

The vehicle is believed to be a gray Nissan Sentra with dark tint windows and was seen in the area at about the time of the incident, according to New Orleans Police.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located a man who was shot multiple times and was declared dead at the scene.

Investigators are gathering evidence and information to identify suspects and a motive, according to New Orleans Police.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and release official cause of death upon completion of an autopsy and notification of the victim’s family.
