NOPD: man reportedly robbed of wallet on Dauphine Street

An attempted wallet snatching on Dec. 6 turned into a simple robbery on Dauphine Street, the New Orleans Police Department said, with the suspects leaving the scene in a Chevrolet pickup truck with front end damage.

The NOPD said the incident occurred at approximately 6:55 a.m. in the 600 block of Dauphine St. when a female suspect approached the male victim and attempted to take the victim’s wallet.

The man pushed the suspect away, the NOPD said, at which time a male suspect approached and pinned the victim near the truck so the female suspect could take the victim’s wallet.

The female suspect took the victim’s wallet and then drove away, along with her partner, in the pickup truck down Dauphine Street, the NOPD said.

The female suspect is described as white, standing about five foot eight inches tall with long black hair, approximately 40 years old and wearing black and white tights.

The NOPD described the male suspect as “brown-skinned” with medium build and a bald head, clad in a dark green jacket and wearing a plaid shirt and jeans.

The NOPD released a surveillance photo of the alleged suspects and their truck on Dec. 12.

Police seek help identifying man wanted in connection to Dec. 9 simple robbery on St. Louis Street

Police are asking the public’s help in identifying and locating a suspect wanted in connection to a simple robbery that occurred in the 900 block of St. Louis St. on Dec. 9, the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) said.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:05 a.m., the NOPD said.

NOPD arrest two men connected to Dec. 1 Canal Street shooting that injured 12 after college football game

New Orleans police arrested two men in connection to the Dec. 1 shooting on Canal Street that injured a dozen people, including the suspects.

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) on Dec. 10 arrested 21-year-old Stafford Starks and then on Dec. 11 arrested 22-year-old LaBryson Polidore, who the NOPD said was injured in the shooting.

Polidore was arrested in the Baton Rouge area, according to the Associated Press.

Both men are suspects in the shooting that occurred among a crowd of people shortly before 3:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Canal St., the NOPD said. The incident happened on the Sunday following the 46th annual Bayou State Classic football game.

Ten people were initially reported injured at the scene, not including the shooters, the NOPD said.

The NOPD’s capture of Starks and identification of Polidore came with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals, FBI, ATF, the St. Mary and Iberville parish sheriff’s offices, the Louisiana State Police and tips submitted to Crimestoppers GNO.

The Iberville and St. Mary parish sheriff’s offices provided “vital assistance” during the investigation, the NOPD said.

Through a process of corroborating Crimestopper tips, the NOPD said, investigators issued arrest warrants for Starks and Polidore after they were positively identified as shooters in the incident.

Investigators learned that the shooting stemmed from a feud between Starks and Polidore in St. Mary Parish, the NOPD said.

The NOPD said search warrants served on Dec. 10 revealed two additional individuals who were involved in the shooting reported their injuries to a medical facility in St. Mary Parish.

One of them was identified as Polidore, who was shot in the foot. The other is a 23-year-old man, who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

Starks was booked into the St. Mary Parish jail just after 1 p.m. on Dec. 10. and currently awaits extradition to Orleans Parish. He faces charges of attempted second degree murder, illegal carrying and discharge of a weapon and obstruction of justice, the NOPD said.

Online records show that Polidore was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Jail on Dec. 11 with no bail posted.

The NOPD said Polidore faces 10 counts of attempted second degree murder, illegal carrying and discharge of a weapon and obstruction of justice.

The investigation is ongoing.

Man and woman sought after Bourbon Street encounter leads to robbery, NOPD says

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is searching for a man and a woman who are suspected of robbing an intoxicated victim at a hotel following a September 20 encounter on Bourbon Street.

The NOPD said the incident occurred on September 20 at midnight when the victim reported getting separated from his friends on Bourbon Street and that he met an unknown black female who offered to help find his hotel room.

Instead, according to the NOPD, the woman allegedly led him to a different hotel.

When the victim walked into the hotel’s elevator, a male suspect entered before the doors closed, and struck the victim over the head, causing the victim to lose consciousness.

The victim regained consciousness, the NOPD said, and discovered that his phone was missing, and two debit cards were missing from his wallet.

The victim could not provide a description of either subject, but did recall that the female subject wore yellow stripped pants.

The NOPD released a surveillance camera picture of the alleged woman.

The stolen debit cards were subsequently used at several locations causing approximately $3,088.12 in fraudulent charges, the NOPD said.

Security cameras from a Walmart in Kenner showed a woman clad in yellow stripped pants using the cards at the self-checkout counter, the NOPD said.

Amite man suspected of carrying Glock 19 with extended magazine on Bourbon Street

An Amite man was arrested on October 6 after he was allegedly caught with a loaded Glock 19 handgun with extended magazine on Bourbon Street, the New Orleans Police Department said.

New Orleans Police Department Eighth District Promenade officers arrested 32-year-old Brandon Curry at about 12:28 a.m. in the 400 block of Bourbon Street after he was found in possession of the Glock 19, which shoots nine millimeter bullets; the extended magazine and 12 additional rounds of ammunition.

The NOPD arrested an Amite man for illegally carrying a firearm in the Eighth District.

According to NOPD, Curry has a felony conviction of aggravated assault with a firearm in Tangipahoa Parish and is forbidden from possessing a gun, adding that Curry recently completed five years of probation related to the charge.

A record check revealed the firearm was reported stolen by the Amite Police Department.

Curry was booked on suspicion of illegal carrying of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a stolen firearm. He was released after posting a $20,000 bond.
