3 people injured in Bourbon Street shooting

Three people were injured by a single bullet allegedly fired by a woman following an altercation with a security guard at a Bourbon Street nightclub on Sunday, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The incident occurred at about 1:16 a.m. in the 700 block of Bourbon Street, where 19-year-old Savannah Bowman pulled out a handgun following the altercation and fired a single shot that fragmented, striking three victims, according to the NOPD.

The NOPD said two victims were transported via EMS to a local hospital where they were treated for their wounds, while the third victim refused medical attention. Bowman allegedly pointed the gun at the security guard, who the NOPD identified as a fourth victim in the incident.

Bowman was arrested by police shortly after the incident and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on suspicion of several charges, including three counts of aggravated battery, two counts of illegally carrying a weapon, and one count each of illegal use of a weapon, illegally carrying a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm, online records show.

Records show Bowman made her first appearance via video conference in Orleans Parish Magistrate Court Section M2, where her bond was set at $80,000, and is schedule to make her next appearance at 3 p.m. on June 1 in Section M5.
