The monthly French Quarter Management District Security and Enforcement Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m. in the Bienville House board room located at 320 Decatur St.
Matters to be discussed include several presentations, such as a monthly report on the Upper Quarter Patrol, New Orleans Police Department Eighth District crime statistics and an update on the Royal Street pedestrian mall barricade mobilization.
The next meeting will be held on April 24.
As one of the FQMD’s several committees, the Security and Enforcement Committee’s function is to advise the FQMD on “security strategies that will improve public safety in the French Quarter,” according to its website.
The FQMD was established by the Louisiana legislature in 2007 to “revitalize the French Quarter and address the post-Katrina and systemic issues confronting the neighborhood,” according to its website.
The FQMD is governed by a 13-member commission whose members are appointed by various organizations, including the New Orlean’s mayor’s office, the French Quarter Business Association and the Louisiana Restaurant Association, among others.
