NOPD identify Burgundy Street drive-by shooting suspect

New Orleans Police identified a man they say is the primary suspect involved in a drive-by shooting that occurred on Burgundy Street Oct. 27.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Jahari Levy, 37, in connection to a drive-by shooting that occurred in the 500 block of Burgundy Street at about 11:41 p.m. on Oct. 27, according to the NOPD.

Officials said Levy is wanted on one count each of 2nd degree aggravated battery and assault by drive-by shooting.

Orleans Parish Justice Center records show that Levy was arrested Oct. 30 on suspicion of illegally carrying a concealed firearm and possession of narcotics, but has since been released.

Levy is known to frequent the French Quarter and the Central Business District, according to the NOPD, adding to use caution when approaching him because he will likely be armed.
