Woman arrested after lunging at Gov. Nicholls Street resident with ‘large’ knife, NOPD says

A woman was arrested Friday after she allegedly lunged at a French Quarter resident with a knife in her hand during an incident on Governor Nicholls Street.

Eighth District officers responded to a report of a fight in the 400 block of Governor Nicholls Street shortly after noon, according to New Orleans Police.

The female victim told officers that she observed woman, identified as 32-year-old Margaret Cunningham, thrown an item at her car.

After the resident confronted Cunningham, she lunged at the victim with a “large” knife in her hand, according to New Orleans Police.

Cunningham was arrested at the scene and booked into Orleans Parish Justice Center on suspicion of aggravated assault.
