A portion of Canal Street in the French Quarter will be closed to vehicular traffic for nearly two weeks in order to replace cooling towers at the Marriott Hotel starting in February.
A portion of the lake-bound side of Canal Street, in between Royal and Decatur streets, will be closed from Feb. 1 to Feb. 13, according to New Orleans Department of Public Works officials, adding that the closure is necessary to facilitate a series of crane lifts to replace cooling towers at the hotel located at 555 Canal Street.
Commuters are advised to use caution, driving, bicycling and walking near the area.
Lane closure signs will be in place throughout the 13-day period on the lake-bound side of Canal Street. Two-way traffic operations will be in place on the river-bound side of Canal Street in order to accommodate vehicular traffic throughout the closure, according to officials.
Anyone with questions about this closure is encouraged to call RoadworkNOLA at 504-658-7623.
