37-year-old man arrested after French Quarter standoff with NOPD, US Marshals on Dauphine Street

New Orleans Police arrested a man on suspicion of aggravated assault charges after an hours-long standoff on Dauphine Street Friday.

Officers responded to a report of a man, identified as 37-year-old Eddy Roche, who shot a gun at a person as they tried to enter a residence in the 500 block of Dauphine Street shortly after 8:34 a.m., according to NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson.

Roche was arrested following the roughly 4-hour standoff and booked into Orleans Parish Justice Center on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm shortly after 11 p.m. No bail amount was listed Saturday morning.
