Comedian Andy Dick filed a lawsuit against the man who punched him unconscious outside a French Quarter nightclub in August 2019.
In a lawsuit filed in Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 30, Dick alleges a punch from David Hale outside One Eyed Jacks on Aug. 10, 2019 left him with “serious, permanent and disabling injuries,” according to nola.com.
The punch knocked Dick to the ground, causing him to head his head on the sidewalk, and is demanding damages in the form wage loss, medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, among other damages, the newspaper reported.
Additionally, Dick is suing One Eyed Jacks for failing to provide adequate security.
Dick, 54, had finished performing at One Eyed Jacks located in the 600 block of Toulouse Street when Hale, 47, allegedly sucker-punched on the sidewalk following an encounter between the two outside the nightclub.
Hale alleged Dick grabbed him by the genitals just before he punched the comedian.
Hale was subsequently arrested on two counts of battery, although the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office on July 28 dropped its case because Dick didn’t cooperate in the investigation.
