Suspect changed t-shirts in between Eighth District burglaries before stealing truck, NOPD says

A suspect on was captured on a surveillance camera changing t-shirts in between multiple theft and burglary incidents on Thursday in the Eighth District, including on North Rampart Street, before stealing a truck and fleeing the scene, according to New Orleans Police.

The first incident occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. when the suspect was captured on surveillance video removing a suitcase and other items from the interior of an unlocked Mercedes-Benz in the 700 block of North Rampart Street, according to New Orleans Police.

At the time of this incident, the alleged suspect was seen in the surveillance footage wearing a yellow shirt.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., three hours later, the same person forced entry into an apartment complex located in the 500 block of Baronne Street and opened a package from the mail area, according to New Orleans Police, adding the person donned the grey t-shirt that was inside the package and left the yellow t-shirt at the scene before being removed from the building by security staff.

Less than an hour later, shortly after 4 a.m., the person allegedly entered an unlocked 2014 GMC Sierra truck with Louisiana license plate C572918 parked in the 800 block of Gravier Street.

The suspect found the keys inside the truck and started the vehicle, heading southbound while fleeing the scene, according to New Orleans Police.
