
A truck carrying molasses accidentally spilled its contents along North Rampart Street on Monday night, according to multiple social media posts.
According to WVUE, the spill occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. in between Toulouse and St. Louis streets as the truck traveled along North Rampart.
The driver of the truck was given three citations involving improper loading and size and size and weight limit violations, WVUE reported.
The eastbound lanes of North Rampart will be closed until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23rd for cleanup, while the westbound lanes will remain open, according to WVUE.
Update: The right eastbound lane on North Rampart will close temporarily again on Tuesday to remove all syrup from street car tracks, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
