Reminder: French Quarter Economic Development District meeting Nov. 7

The French Quarter Economic Development District will hold its next meeting on Nov. 7.

The meeting will be held starting at 9:40 a.m. CST in the city hall chambers at New Orleans City Hall, located at 1300 Perdido St.

Items on the agenda include presentations of the quarterly report on the fiscal and operational administration of the French Quarter Economic Development District Trust Fund and the 2025 budget for the French Quarter Management District.

Visitors can attend the meeting in person or watch it streamed live.

FQMD meeting scheduled to discuss $1.5M funding for public safety, quality of life

The French Quarter Management District Board of Commissioners is scheduled to hold a public meeting Monday evening to provide information and solicit public input on a one-time $1.5 million appropriation from the state of Louisiana to pay for public safety and quality of life programming.

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the New Orleans Marriott Mardi Gras Ballroom located at 555 Canal St.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts on the funding opportunity. Written public comments will be accepted before the meeting starts. NOPD investigates shooting death near Decatur, St. Philip streets

New Orleans Police are investigating a shooting death of a man that occurred near the intersection of Decatur and St. Philip streets on Saturday, officials said.

Records show that police responded to the shooting at about 9:01 p.m. NOPD officials said the shooting occurred in between the railroad tracks and the Mississippi River, near the intersection.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the NOPD, which did not identify the man. Suspect information was not provided.

The shooting was near the route of the annual Krewe of Boo Halloween parade, which occurred earlier in the evening.

NOPD seeks to ID alleged Canal Street Saks Fifth Avenue fraudsters

New Orleans Police are seeking help to identify and locate two people wanted in connection to an automobile theft and attempted access device fraud at a Saks Fifth Avenue on Canal Street earlier this month.

Officials on Friday said that a gray 2021 Dodge Ram pickup truck was reported missing in the 3600 block of Rue Andree on Oct. 5, and that the victim stated his wallet and credit cards were in the vehicle.

Later that day, two suspects were observed on surveillance video footage attempting to use the victim’s credit cards at Saks, which is located in the 300 lock of Canal Street.
