Charges dropped against UFC fighter Nate Diaz over Bourbon Street brawl

New Orleans District Attorney Jason Williams said that he won’t be pursuing second-degree battery charges against UFC fighter Nate Diaz stemming from a Bourbon Street fight captured on video earlier this year, local news media reported on Monday.

A video posted to social media showed Diaz allegedly choking out a man following an altercation in front of Crescent City Pizza Works (407 Bourbon St.) on April 21. An arrest warrant was issued for Diaz, although he turned himself in six days later.

Local news outlets, including nola.com and WWL, cited officials in the DA’s office who reviewed the video and determined the evidence is not “sufficient support to prove the alleged crime.”

WWL reported that Diaz’ attorney claimed his client was “aggressively pursued” by a man and that Diaz was merely defending himself. The went limp during the choke hold and hit his head on the curb after Diaz let him go, WWL said.

A video of the incident was posted to social media last April and can be viewed here: https://tinyurl.com/mpuz35d7.

Red Dress Run 2023 (PHOTOS)

Crowds of people wearing red dresses flooded Marigny, Bywater and the French Quarter on Saturday for the annual Red Dress Run. Usually held on the second weekend of August, it’s technically a race that you register for, with the proceeds going to support charity — although no registering doesn’t necessarily preclude participate.

Many just said “fuck it,” and decided to don a skimpy red garment and proceeded to get wasted early this morning. Were you one of those people? Let us know.

Pair sought in suspected pickpocket incident near Bourbon, Iberville streets

NOPD says these two people were involved in a pickpocket incident on May 2.
Pickpocket alert!

New Orleans Police are searching for a male and female couple they say took a male victim’s cellphone and wallet in a pickpocket incident near the intersection of Bourbon and Iberville streets on May 2.

The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. near the intersection, where the male victim was standing and was approached by an unknown Black female, who was observed on surveillance camera footage rubbing on him and then going through his pockets, according to the NOPD.

Police said the female stole the victim’s cell phone and wallet, which she placed “into the rear of her pants.” Shortly afterward, a Black male suspect was observed reaching into the rear of the Black female’s pants and taking the stolen property before walking away, according to the NOPD.

Anyone who knows the identity of the alleged suspects is asked to contact NOPD Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080.
