A dreadlocked suspect is sought by New Orleans Police when a victim was left paralyzed on one side of their body after they were shot in the head Sunday near the intersection of North Rampart and Bienville streets.
The shooting occurred at about 5:37 p.m. when an unknown Black male suspect was walking with the victim and allegedly shot the victim in the head, and fled the scene, according to the NOPD on Tuesday.
First District detectives have since initiated an attempted murder investigation. The victim was not identified.
Police officials described the suspect as having medium-length dreadlocked hair, facial hair and was last seen wearing grey and white Nike tennis shoes.
NOPD officials, however, added that the suspect was seen changing into a black t-shirt that he is seen holding in the picture above, and is known to frequent areas in the First and Eighth districts.
Officials are asking the public to help identify the suspect and anyone with additional information on the incident is asked to contact First District detectives at 504-658-6010. Anonymous callers can contact Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll free at 1-877-903-STOP.
